I've been painting and puttering with wood, metal, glass, and anything I could get my hands on since i was 12. I love to paint and create with my hands and my mind.
Formal schooling in the Fine Arts area have been limitedfor me, I've taken many classes at Malaspina College, North Island College, Victoria College of Art. Along with classes with watercolorist Marilyn Timms and other talented Artistisans in the Stained glass field. But mostly I am self taught and self driven to create.
Painting murals of trees for clients in homes and schools has always been a fun challenge, but never so much as painting around each and every leaf of a 15 foot tall arbutus tree, as this client had changed the color of their decor.
I was very fortunate to be asked to design the "offical cancelation stamp" for the Merville Post Office in October of 2002. To be stamped on every piece of mail leaving this pastoral postcard pretty community. I Painted and donated airbrushed t-shirts and signed first addition envelopes for the Merville Community Hall. A song was written "The Merville Gumboot Song" and the Vancouver Island TV and several Newspaper interviewers decended upon our celebration.
2003 found me ingrossed in Pumpkin Fest at LeCoteau Farms, an annual event that draws thousands of Victoria Residents out rain or shine. I was up to my elbows in pumpkin guts and the creation of displays and paintings, I repaired and created creatures of the spookist kinds to magical fairies. I also gave tips on home decorating and scarecrow making to the inquesitive public and broke the worlds record for pumpkin carving at 23 seconds.
In 2004 I was a caught up in the production of a local production of the "Lion King". Along with my very talented friend, Shiela we created the characters to be seen in over 6 performances, leaving everyone in awe of the talented cast and crew. Creating masks from bike helmets and foam rubber, feathers and paint, the local paper refered to them as Broadway quality.
